In today’s dystopian soap opera, where information isn’t merely power but currency, the halos of Amnesty International, the Red Cross, and even our dear United Nations have started slipping embarrassingly. These so-called champions of humanity—according to their well-polished brochures—are increasingly caught in narratives that conveniently align with authoritarian interests. Who’d have guessed?
Amnesty, the Red Cross, and the UN: Saints or Puppets?
Amnesty International, the self-styled guardian angel of human rights, the Red Cross, forever heroically sprinting through warzones, and the UN, the bastion of international diplomacy—each boasts noble intentions. Yet their records reveal troubling selective outrage. Amnesty energetically condemns democracies (let’s be blunt: mostly Israel), while politely sidestepping horrific abuses by Iran, China, and Russia. Curious priorities, no?
For democratic countries—whether Britain, peaceful Norway, or much-maligned Israel—the law serves as a restraining order against state misconduct. Authoritarian regimes like Russia and Iran treat international law like an à la carte menu—selecting convenient items to justify their aggression. When Amnesty, the Red Cross, or the UN base their pronouncements on biased or manipulated local sources, they unwittingly become PR agents for despots.
The Red Cross’s selective vision is particularly glaring: recently, it notably failed even once to visit Israeli hostages held captive by Hamas. Apparently, their busy diaries couldn’t accommodate democratic hostages, preferring tea sessions with autocrats instead.
The Media and UN Mischievous Tango
Enter our beloved media and the UN, dancing a mischievous tango, eagerly amplifying Amnesty’s selective criticisms whenever Israel is involved. Hamas atrocities? Apparently “off-brand.” UN resolutions are disproportionately aimed at Israel—while barely murmuring about Iran’s nuclear threats, China’s Uyghur oppression, or Russia’s barbarity in Ukraine. It’s an ideological waltz of mutual reinforcement: Amnesty whispers accusations, the UN condemns, media sensationalise, and despots sit comfortably enjoying the performance.
Projection: A Western Obsession and the Rise of Antisemitism
Projection isn’t mere amateur psychology—it has become strategic misinformation. Western protestors, indoctrinated with endless guilt over colonialism and historical atrocities, eagerly use Israel as a psychological scapegoat. Accusing Israel of colonialism or genocide becomes an almost therapeutic act of moral redemption, an externally projected drama of self-absolution.
Yet, this isn’t just campus theatrics—it’s dangerously real. Misinformation spread by Amnesty, Red Cross reports, UN condemnations, and biased media has resulted in a catastrophic spike in antisemitism worldwide. Reports indicate antisemitic incidents have surged by over 1000%, manifesting in vandalised synagogues, violent attacks on Jewish individuals, and mainstreaming anti-Jewish conspiracies.
Post-October 2023, following Hamas’s monstrous attacks, Western campuses erupted with slogans imported directly from Tehran or Doha, chanting absurdities like “Glory to our martyrs.” How authentically does this resonate with privileged students sipping lattes between lectures? It doesn’t. But the toxic rhetoric has undeniably led to real-world harm, placing Jewish communities globally under unprecedented threat.
Critical Thinking: An Endangered Species?
What’s the antidote to this misinformation epidemic? Accountability would be refreshing. Amnesty might consider stricter source verification. Perhaps the Red Cross could spare a moment to visit hostages. And just maybe, the UN could reconsider its obsession with condemning Israel and focus on genuinely egregious human rights violations elsewhere.
As someone deep into producing Mother of Hate, a documentary uncovering precisely these warped narratives, I’ve witnessed how truth is sacrificed at the altar of convenience. Perhaps my Polish heritage, acutely aware of historical propaganda’s consequences, sharpens my skepticism towards these cynical manipulations.
Until Amnesty, the Red Cross, the UN, and media giants prioritise truth over sensationalism, society remains trapped in an endless misinformation loop, damaging innocent lives. It’s not merely about bias—it’s a struggle for control over narratives. Sadly, truth remains worryingly unfashionable.
